Not Living The Nerdlife?

I may be a fraud. Noooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!! Did you read that in Vader’s voice? Maybe I’m not a total fraud.

But after watching Comic Book Men, I’ve realized there are people who are far more nerdy than I am, to the point I’m questioning if I even am one.

I remember one time I had a buddy do a play where he took scenes from comic books and adapted it. After the show I went up to him and I named every book he took those from.

Nowadays, I just don’t read as many books as I used to, I couldn’t do the same thing like I did back then.

Watching Comic Book Men, it’s one thing to see Walt drop big bucks to buy collectibles, he has a store behind him. But then you realize that he’s buying that stuff in order to sell back to people who will pay even more than he did to make a profit. So seeing people show up and dropping over a grand on a couple of books is crazy to me.

I have spent a ton of money on nerdy stuff, but I’ve never put a thousand dollars down for a classic comic book. A I don’t care about such books, B most books these days get digital releases if not reprints, I can get a copy and I’m not trying to collect and hope to re sell at a later date.

I was so surprised when a girl and her bf decided to pay $1600 for a couple of Hulk books. I’m like, you made of money or what? But I am glad there are people like that out there to keep the comic book stores open. I certainly don’t buy as many books as I used to and am not doing my part to keep it open.

How about you? What’s the most you’ve paid for an item? Are you hardcore like these people on Comic Book Men?
